Kayla Harrison wins women's 78-kilogram Olympic judo gold
Victim of Sex abuse, now an Olympic Champion
World no. 4 Kayla Harrison won the Gold medal in 78 kg Judo, and gave US its first ever Judo Gold in Olympic history.
Harrison, 22, defeated Britain's Gemma Gibbons in a final she dominated from the start, getting a stronger grip on Gibbons and managing to throw her twice.
Harrison, a former world champion, was in top form, dispatching many of her opponents with a match-ending ippon move, one in less than a minute. Harrison said she was focused on the gold.
Harrison's historical is even more remarkable, as she has staged a strong comeback from the mental sufferings she faced as a teenager. As a young teenager she was sexually abused by her former coach, the story was well documented in media.
