Facebook Phone: Not on cards?

Facebook founder and internet entrepreneur Mark Zuckerberg stated that fielding a Facebook-based smartphone is not the answer.

'Building out a whole phone wouldn't really make much sense for us to do,' the CEO exclaimed.

Zuckerberg explained that the social network is currently the most used app on all current mobile platforms, and bringing out a Facebook smartphone is not an adequate solution

Although Facebook’s mobile users have surged over the years with approximately 540 million users, from its current 955 million user base, accessing the website through a phone.

The Facebook founder, in a conference call to investors, revealed losses of 100 million pounds in the company’s first earnings reports since its IPO in May

Investors are concerned over the social networking website’s ability to generate revenue from mobile advertising. 

Facebook also revealed earnings of 750 million pounds, 20 million pounds more than expected by analysts.
